About this site:
In July of 2014 the U.S. Mennonite Brethren (USMB) conference ratified a revision to its Confession of Faith article 13 entitled “Love, Peacemaking, and Reconciliation.” The purpose of this site is to help facilitate further conversation among USMBs on the topics discussed in the revised article.
To jump into the conversation, please read the first (short) blog post “Starting Here.”
As you come across conversation topics you’d like to speak into, please share your name along with your post.
My name is Trent Voth. I’m a member of the U.S. Mennonite Brethren conference who has lived, studied, and pastored in Hillsboro, KS and Fresno, CA. I’m also an alumni of Tabor College (2007) and Fresno Pacific University Biblical Seminary (2012) and I’m currently working towards a PhD in Biblical Studies at the University of Toronto School of Theology. I was commissioned by the USMB Board of Faith and Life to host this site as a way of facilitating further conversation on the USMB Confession of Fatih article 13. Its a conversation I’m passionate about and that means I am biased (who isn’t?).
However, I’m willing to reexamine my positions. I am most persuaded by reasons and arguments drawn from the life and teachings of Jesus, Biblical scripture, and the examples of the early Church. I will be gracious with these conversations. Please, be gracious with me.
